Before You Apply
- Both applicants attend the in-person application and bring valid identification. The Clerk lists a driver’s license, federal or state ID, or passport; birth certificates and green cards are not accepted as application photo ID.
- Read the Family Law Handbook. If previously married, know exactly when and how the last marriage ended.
- If either applicant is a Florida resident, a three-day waiting period generally applies. A qualifying course from a registered provider, with the required completion certificate, can waive it. This is the Premarital Course, “Before We Say I Do,” that Rev. Riana teaches. Get more details here. Both nonresidents may qualify for no waiting period with valid out-of-state ID.
- Plan the ceremony within the license’s 60-day validity and confirm its effective and expiration dates with the Clerk.
- For an applicant under 18, contact the Clerk directly about the age-17, consent, documentation and age-gap requirements.
Use the official site to confirm current fees, payment methods, holiday closures and course-certificate acceptance before applying.
Your License and Your Ceremony
The Clerk issues your marriage license. Rev. Riana helps you plan and officiates your ceremony, and will sign your license immediately after the ceremony she officiates for you. You MUST bring the valid license on your wedding day for Rev. Riana to sign it for you.
